Dr. Gerald Busch, MD MPH DLFAPA has served as the medical director for the Clinical Center of Excellence at Magellan Health since October 2019. He graduated from Harvard College and completed medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. He completed his psychiatric training at the University of Texas Health Science Center Houston and completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the same institution. Dr. Busch has practiced psychiatry since 1990, primarily in Houston, Texas. He has been on the volunteer faculty of Baylor Medical School as well as the University of Texas Health Science Center Houston and University of Hawaii. He served as chair of the Houston Harris County Office of Drug Policy for many years and was involved in several community projects to reduce substance abuse in Houston, Texas. Dr. Busch also obtained a Master of Public Health from the George Washington University, graduating in 2018. Dr. Busch is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He has added qualifications in Addiction Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is also certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine in Addiction Medicine. Dr. Busch is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and President-Elect of the Hawaii Psychiatric Medical Association. Dr. Busch enjoys escrima, surfing, paddleboarding, and canoeing, as well as spending time with his children.
